A couple days ago Valve launched a closed beta of Steam for phones on the Android Marketplace. Finally after a little waiting Valve has changed the status of their app from closed beta to open beta. Users are now able to log into their Steam app with their Steam account to view their friends list, chat, look at steams catalog, buy games, view profiles, groups and more. Basically this app will allow users to do everything but play the actual video games. The chat function is smooth and beautifully done. Within the settings tab you find some very helpful settings as well. You can change it so the app does not run in the background, change notification sounds, and more.
This app proves helpful for those that want to talk to friends while on the road or really want to catch that great Steam deal going on. Only one item remains for valve now. When will they start selling mobile games that you can install and play on your phone? It only seems like the next step since thousands already downloaded steam to their smartphones.
